A Reconstruction of Clara Schumann’s
of Wednesday, February 1, 1871
|Piano Sonata No. 18 in Eb, Op. 31, No. 3, "Die Jagd" (1802)
||Ludwig van Beethoven
|2. Scherzo: Allegretto vivace|
|3. Menuetto: Moderato e grazioso|
|4. Presto con fuoco|
|Allegretto grazioso in A, Op. 62, No. 6, "Frühlingslied" (1842-44)
|Davidsbündlertänze, Op. 6 (1837)
I am playing the abridged version of the Schumann Davidsbündlertänze recorded by Fanny Davies. We know for a fact that Clara never played no.7, for instance, in public, as it must have meant a lot to her. Hence, Fanny did not record it either. I haven't yet gotten to the bottom of why she omitted the other 3 dances, and probably never will, however, as this is a reconstruction program, I thought I ought to be faithful to Fanny Davies's rendition of it.
Hence the following dances are omitted:
Heft I: 3 - Mit Humor 7 - Nicht Schnell
Heft II: 15 - Frisch 16 - Mit gutem Humor
|Concerto nach italienischem Gusto in F, BWV.971 (publ. 1735)
||J. S. Bach
|Arisoso in d: Andante|
|Prelude in e, Op.35, No. 1 (1837) from Six Preludes & Fugues
|Nocturne in g, Op. 15, No. 3 (1833)
|Fantasie-Impromptu No. 4 in c#, Op. 66 (1835)
