About the Musicians

Stanley Wilson

Like most outstanding artists, Stanley Wilson started young, singing “I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus” at age six, at a Christmas party. He became a serious singer as a young man, receiving his Master of Music from the Longy School of Music in Cambridge, Mass., in Opera Performance, and continues to learn by keeping up his studies with Deborah Birnbaum of New York City. Mr. Wilson’s extensive list of opera credits include Bardolfo in Falstaff, Gastone in La Traviata, Tanzmeister in Ariadne auf Naxos, El Rememdado in Carmen, Basilio and Don Curzio in The Marriage of Figaro, Mr. Angel in The Impresario, Kaspar in Amahl and the Night Visitors, the Witch in Hansel and Gretel, Tinca in Il Tabarro, Gherardo in Gianni Schicchi, Tamino in The Magic Flute and Laurie in Little Women.

Stanley’s concert work includes performances of Handel Israel in Egypt, Messiah and Judas Maccabeaus, Mozart Requiem, Great Mass in c minor and Coronation Mass, Mendelssohn Elijah, Haydn Mass in the Time of War and Lord Nelson Mass, Vivaldi Dixit Dominus, Beethoven Choral Fantasy, the premier of Gwyneth Walkers’ Come Life, Shaker Life, Bach Christmas Oratorio, Schubert Mass in B-flat and Mass in E flat as well as the Saint-Saëns Christmas Oratorio. He has sung with the Boston Classical Orchestra, New Bedford Symphony, the Salisbury Singers and Arcadia Orchestra, the Concord Chorus and Orchestra, the Manchester Chorale and Orchestra, the Master Singers of Worcester, the Oratorio Choir of New Haven, the Concert Singers of Greater Lynn and the Assabet Valley Mastersingers.

Stanley has worked with the Provincetown Repertory Theatre in productions of The Trip to Bountiful and Amphoragorey (an original musical based on the drawings and stories of Edward Gorey). Some musical theatre roles he has performed include Eddie Ryan in Funny Girl, the MC in Cabaret, and Sasha in Fiddler on the Roof. In 2006 he released his first CD titled Stanley Wilson Sings Cole Porter. He is in the final stages of a CD of art song by British composers as well as a CD of German lieder, both to be released later this year. For the last eight years, Stanley has taught private voice lessons from his home  in Worcester.  He is now teaching at the Groton School in Groton, MA.
