The pianist who performed Rachmaninoff’s complete solo piano works within his 150th-anniversary year in 2023, Asiya Korepanova is hailed as a "tremendously gifted pianist who exhibits a singular affinity for Rachmaninoff’s Russian romantic idiom and possesses the blazing technique to fully realize his distinctive scores" (South Florida Classical Review), and is also highly recognized as a composer, visual artist, and poet.
The author of many original works and solo piano transcriptions, Asiya studied composition with Albert Leman, chair of Moscow Conservatory’s composition department and student of Dmitry Shostakovich. She also creates original multimedia projects, featuring her poetry and artwork inspired by Liszt, Bach, Tchaikovsky, and Mussorgsky.
Born to a musical family in Russia, Asiya made her orchestral debut at the age of nine with Mozart’s Concerto No. 8, playing her own cadenza. Since immigrating to the U.S. in 2012, she has garnered national attention with appearances at Carnegie Hall, Phillips Collection, Newport Classical Festival, and many other prestigious venues. She appeared on CNN, NPR stations, WFMT, and WETA.
In 2025, Asiya brings her beloved Amy Beach piano concerto to New York, performing with Pegasus Orchestra, returns to San Francisco Piano Festival, Master Players Concert Series, Vashon Center for the Arts, Friends of Chamber Music of Miami, MostArts Music Festival, and tours in Switzerland and England. In June, she directs an inaugural “Flatiron Festival”, a two-week chamber music series on Manhattan.
We welcome Asiya Korepanova to her second performance on our Historical Piano Concerts Series.
